Enough Estrogen to fill up a ... swimming pool?

OK OK OK...

so we finally went on our Girls Trip. There was laughter and tears. But mostly laughter. The cast was Michelle, Esther, Liz, Mel and Jenna with brief cameos from Elizabeth and Sis. Mortensen.

Let me break it down:

The adventure started even before we left! Jenna sent me a text saying, "I'
m not going. I feel really sick." I thought, "Hmm. She must've eaten some bad cheese... or just any random dairy product." So one down, four more to go!
We were all up and ready to go by 6am the next day. We drove all the way with one stop at a gas station in Santa Barbara. Liz decided to hit the local Denny's bathroom next to the gas station so we decided to pick her up after we filled up. She was walking up in her P.J.s and we hooted and hollered at her as she hurriedly walked back to where we were. We picked her up, but not after she flashed us a little leg ;) Liz and Mel fell asleep on the way there. It was cute.

The drive to San Simeon, our final destination, was about 5 hours (and that'
s including all three stops.) I got bored at some points:

Our next stop was at this little beach area where we encountered really brave squirrels and a dead sea lion. We stopped and these little squirrels were very friendly an
d they came up to our hands and ate trail mix out of them. I got really nervous, though, because this one squirrel was really hungry and almost demanded that i feed it. So at one point i freaked out and threw all my trail mix at it, hitting the poor little dude!

After our life threatening encounter with the squirrels, we went down to the beach where we came upon a dead sea lion that was being devoured by two vultures. It smelled horrible. Esther wouldn't let me take a picture of it. So sorry, no pic. We then took fun pics by the beach.

After our beach romp, we headed to H
earst Castle. Now i can write up a blog based solely our experience at Hearst Castle. But I'll spare you all from that. I will say this: It was breathtaking. My favorite piece of art was the oldest one on the property and that was an Egyptian statue that was about 3500 years old! I mean, that's older than Jesus! Mr. Hearst hosted many dinner parties and some of his famous guests included Amelia Earhart, Charles Lindbergh, Clark Gable, and Errol Flynn. I would definitely would love to return and do another tour of the place. We did the "beginner's" tour. There are 4 other tours apart from that one.

After the tour, we headed back to check into our hotel room. Now before i go any further, i would like to show you the website for the hotel room we got. The lovely Bayfront Inn in Morro Bay. They advertise a gorgeous pool and hot tub and areas where we can sun bathe.
well kids, this is where we actually stayed. Sucks balls, doesn't it? Well, as you can see, the pool was covered in dirt and the hot tub was covered with a pretty blue tarp. You know the kind of tarp you use to place on the bed of your truck when you move crap around. So needless to say, we didn't go swimming. The water was too cold so far up north. So we just went into our spider infested room (no joke!) and freshened up and headed to the cute quaint little area that is Morro Bay. We walked around, talked to the locals, and then headed to this really fancy-schmancy restaurant where each of us treated ourselves to delicious dinners that included filet mignon, NY steak and yummy lemon chicken. The dinner didn't disappoint and the restaurant was located right at the water's edge. I thought the waiter was kinda cute so i did what any girl who has nothing to lose and is on vacation would do: I gave the waiter my number. I especially found his Rhode Island accent cute. I know, I'm a sucker for any accent, even a cheap east coast one! I felt bad because when we were ordering, he was going down the specials and explaining the different soup options and what I found most endearing was when he said the word "chowder." He didn't just say "chowder". He said "chow-dah". SO CUTE! He sounded like Mayor Quimby in the Simpsons. I made it a point to point this out to him and single out his pronunciation of the word. Needless to say, he never called.

So after dinner, we got ice cream from a loc
al ice cream/donut shop. Then we headed back to our apartment but not before running into these two huge clams that looked like either angel wings or ears. Liz went with the latter. Aww. See the look of pure joy in her face while she is paying a tribute to "our boy J.B." (inside joke) . So after having too much fun with that, we headed back to our room, where we chatted and all fell asleep watching "Bring it On". A Kirsten Dunst gem.

The next morning we got up and basically just drove back. We stopped in Pi
smo Beach to get breakfast and we are so happy we did. We found this little new age, trendy cafe that had the most delicious food. We had quiches and hot chocolate (see top picture) and yummy sandwiches. The people that worked there were so friendly, too!

On our way back to the car though, i ran into a tall step. I'm an idiot. I wasn't looking where i was walking. Pretty, huh?
Well, after that we headed to Solvang where I bought a new hat and we had a good time just walking around the cute little danish town. We were on our way out and were all piled in the car when we saw a REALLY cute fireman sitting there. Liz suggested we take a picture with him so we clamored out of the car and took our picture with him. No, i will not show you the picture. After Solvang, we headed back home. We made a stop at my place, changed into our bathing suits and headed to the Mortensen's pad to use their pool. More fun girl time with Patti. Then we went home and watched an episode of "So you think you can dance?".

It was overall, a really fun trip. I personally felt like I really needed it to connect again with my best girlfriends. This is a trip that has been in the making for maybe three or four years and although it wasn't very long and we lost Jenna, it was great.

There is a part two to this blog, But because i'm really tired, we'll stop here. Part two involves Jenna and fast passes.... not from boys.

The mental image of a swimming pool full of estrogen made my brain throw up in its mouth.
