i'm going on a cruise...

A group of us are traveling to Florida in August (hurricane season, mind you) then getting on the newest ship in the sea to travel to Jamiaca, the Grand Cayman, Haiti and Cozumel.

Needless to say, I'm really excited.

now the only question is whether i wanna swim with dolphins or go down a zip line or do some para sailing. Life is so hard.

I'm a Twilight Fan

I know what you're thinking...

How could you have jumped on the mormon bandwagon and read the book every laurel in young womens is reading? well, after much pushing from my co-worker Sylvie, who mind you is older but her girls got her to read it, i finally gave in. The reason being i was done reading "all the president's men" and i needed to let my brain breathe after all that heavy political reading i did.

The book is intense, sensual. Everything i am currently lacking in life after a recent "break up (?)". The relationship i was in lacked everything and more that the character of Edward gives to the character Bella. I am living vicariously through a heroines life and i love it!

I just found out they are making film out of the book and i'm pretty excited.

The leads will be played by the dude that played Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and some no name actress.

I think there is something wrong with me...

I have developed over the past few months an almost unhealthy obsession with dirt squirrels. For those of you that don't know what a dirt squirrel is, here is what i pulled up from urbandictionary.com

Dirt squirrel

This term can describe a wide variety of people but in general a Dirt Squirrel is a person(s) who is dirt poor and/or has a bizarre facial complexion and/or is very spastic and has ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder) and/or just looks dirty. Most of whom are found in north-western Ontario or Ancaster, Ontario, Canada.

Look at that guy driving his ATV to the beer store with his little girl sitting in the back, what a Dirt Squirrel!

or

Scott can't sit still for more than 2 seconds, look at that Dirt Squirrel scratch his head like he hasn't had a shower in a week!

I first heard this phrase from George Kaler. He's not a very reliable source, but seeing as the word was originated in Ontario, Canada and George served his mission pretty close to there, i think it is a valid phrase and use it all the time.

But I've veered away from what my blog is really about.

I like dirty dudes with long beards and long hair. Some would call them
Jesus look alikes, others would call them hobos. I call them divine, heavenly creatures. Where as most girls prefer chiseled males with rock hard abs, abercrombie & fitch good looks and clean cut faces, i prefer the dude that just rolled out from under a truck after fixing his carburetor with dirt under his fingernails and greasy hair. I think i have a problem.

Alot of the dudes i have a weakness for are musicians, though. These guys embody everything my mom taught me NOT to like in a man.

I like lists (in case you couldn't already tell :) )So here now is a list of dudes that i am currently crushing on. Let us all pray that this phase passes and this chapter in Michelle's book of life passes.

The first:

Zakk Wylde: Lead guitarist for Black Sabbath. He is mouth watering.

The Second:

Seth Rogen. I fell in love with his charm, friendly face and humor. See! I'm not all about the physical.... "obviously!" yells Nick from the back. In fact, there was this dude who came to church a couple sundays ago and he looked EXACTLY like Seth. I was smitten the whole day.

The third: Layne Staley. Late singer for alice and chains. Now this one is just plain unhealthy. In fact the next two are. I think that because they are dead, they are even m
ore fascinating. Because i can't have them, i want them more. Layne died of a heroin overdose. Not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, but had a pretty hot voice.

The fourth is Kurt Cobain. The hot picture says it all.

The fifth is Robert Plant. Hottie in tight pants. YUM!

The sixth is John Lennon post- Beatles

Lastly, this dude from Santa monica. (i took this pic from tanner's friend's blog.... my apologies Cindy! Hope you don't mind)

There are many more! Some of you might have seen them outside your local 7-11 or in your chemistry class. They are out there and i want one.

Avian Flu...

Why?

We had a member of our stake presidency (one out of the two members who are doctors) come and talk to us about the bird flu during combined relief society/ priesthood. They showed us a super campy video that was well made and informative, and also reminiscent of those old cold war/ "crap we might get bombed by the soviets, lets prepare" movies.

I was speaking to a couple people afterwards and some came to the conclusion that we are being prepared for some huge disaster that is heading our way.

Appropriately enough, we had a flyer handed to us titled, "Preparing for a Pandemic." In it is some sage advice and facts like, "[The Avian Flu] is not transmitted by birds flying over your house." When i think of people freaking out a lá Alfred Hitchcock's "the Birds", it makes me smile.

In the flyer there is actually really good advice and basically reminded us about keeping our 72 hour kits up to date and our water and any important documents close by.

The grand finale and masterpiece of the whole lesson, was this little gem in which they taught us how to cough and sneeze. It was pretty funny, entertaining and yet informative.

its good to be informed. I'm glad, overall, that they took the time to inform us and helped us to be aware of what dangers there are out there and how we can prepare ourselves. It may have been amusing, and i even sat next to a dude that fell asleep, but its important we know these things.

What if....

So the other day we were playing the "what if..." game at Brian and Lloyd's new place. Now if you don't know what the game is, let me explain: you start off with kind of a big group of people, at the minimum 5-6. Everyone gets a sheet of paper and writes down a question beginning with "what if...". For example, "What if the sky wasn't blue?" After everyone is done asking a question, everyone folds it up and puts the question in a pile. Someone then goes around and passes a random question back to everyone. Everyone then answers the question and puts in back into the pile. Then, everyone picks up a question and out loud, one person reads their question and then the person next to them reads their answer. Then that person reads their question and the person after them reads their answer. Hilarity ensues because most of the time the question and answer don't match, hence making it funny. Ha Ha. Laugh clown laugh.

Well, for some stupid reason, almost every bloody question involved me. Mind you, I really didn't care. In fact, it was flattering. Until THE question and answer followed together. Sean Madsen read the question, "What if Michelle wasn't such a flirt?" Then Lloyd who was sitting next to him, kind of uncomfortably looked up and reluctantly said, "Then her lawn wouldn't be so wet." Everyone could not stop laughing at that for at least five minutes. I, in my embarrassment, hid my face. Meanwhile, Payton and Karen couldn't stop laughing. Payton literally had tears in his eyes from the laughter.

I was mortified.

Sleazy Saxophones

Today i was sitting at work assisting the doctor when this song comes on. It was Sade's "Your Love Is King" and it had the nastiest (good nasty) , sleaziest sounding alto sax I've heard. I've heard the song MANY times on that particular station (we have it always and forever set to smooth jazz: 94.7 the wave)

In this instance, the song was awkward because it was really quiet, none of us were talking, the doctor, nor i, and especially the patient with his mouth propped open. So as soon as the the sax came on, i got fidgety and uncomfortable and turned on the loud suction for no reason and suctioned the patients mouth when he had no saliva and i think the patient got the hint too, cause it was almost like he appreciated the extra noise and unnecessary suction of his already dry mouth.

so in honor of my awkward work moment, I've compiled a small list of sleazy sax songs.

enjoy

Careless Whisper - George Michaels or Wham. Same thing!

Young Americans - David Bowie

Hungry Eyes - Eric Carmen

I Can't go for that (no can do) - Hall and Oates

Super Freak
- Rick James

Urgent- Foreigner

Rio - Duran Duran

Never Tear Us Apart - INXS super sleazy alert!

Get Outta My Dreams, Get into My Car
- Billy Ocean
